最初のトレーナーはグレッグ・クーリー。グレッグの引退後はエイドリアン・ストリート、ミス・リンダの薫陶を受け、スカルクラッシャーズ・レスリングスクールの第１期卒業生となる。

Chris first wrestled for Plowboy "Tiny" Frazier's Gulf Coast Wrestling.  He teamed with Ken Lucas and Uncle Elmer at weekly shows in Pascagoula, MS, and on road shows in Southern MS.  He also paired up with Princess Destiny in mixed tag matches for this promotion.

「タイニー」ことプラウボーイ・フレイザーのガルフコースト・レスリングからデビュー。ケン・ルーカス、アンクル・エルマーとチームを組み、ミシシッピ州パスカゴラを拠点に南部ミシシッピを巡業。同時にプリンセス・デスティニーとのミックスタグマッチも組む。

    Soon after, he worked for Sika, "The Wild Samoan" at WWWF and PPW.   Chris soon began his international travels, starting with a three month tour of Canada for Whipper Watson, Jr., including appearances in Ontario and Quebec.    He returned to the United States and joined John Horton's Midsouth Wrestling.

その後「ザ・ワイルド・サモワン」ことシカの下でWWWFとPPWに出場。国際舞台への登場もこの頃、フィッパー・ワトソン・ジュニアの下でのカナダ（オンタリオとケベック）巡業が皮切りだった。巡業から帰ってからは、ジョン・ホートンのミッドサウス・レスリングに在籍。

Chris  appeared in the UWF in Louisiana as Doink the Clown, against Akbar's Devastation, Inc, in 1996-1997.

1996-1997シーズンには「ドインク・ザ・クラウン」の名でアクバルズ・デヴァステーション・インクの敵役としてUWFに出場。

  The young superstar also wrestled in many independent promotions from Louisiana to Georgia, including Deep South, PWI, and Southern States Championship Wrestling.

若きスーパースターとして、ディープサウス、PWI、サザンステーツ・チャンピオンシップなど、独立興行レスリングにも数多く出場。

  His feet soon hit the international road again, as Chris made his first successful Far East Tour from September 1998 to November 1998.

1998年には国際舞台への復帰を果たし、9月から11月にかけての極東ツアーを成功させた。

  He made a triumphant return to Japan on a second Far East Tour from April 1999 to December 2000, wrestling throughout all of Japan's provinces.

1999年4月から2000年12月には再び極東に凱旋ツアー。日本全国各地で巡業。
